Exploration of the Metahuman Creator and some Unreal Engine implementation.

Concept and inspiration

At Grosse 8 I got the opportunity to explore the (back then) new Metahuman Creator and produce some nice video or even media installation with it. I was fascinated when I saw EPIC Games launch trailer for the metahuman creator. A lot of time has past since then (at least in the timeframe of ever evolving tech) and the metahuman hype is seemingly over. It was still great to create some new faces and let them do stuff.

This is the final video I came up with. Pretty much surfing the glitchy Metaverse/Synth hype wave with this one. (I am wondering how long this style will still be en vogue (probably over already)). Enjoy!

Its all cool, but how can we use it?

We wanted to test, if we could use the metahumans for actual production stuff. So I tried to substitute some actors with it. Still looks very avatar like but hey, with just a few hours of work and almost no budget this is pretty good in my opinion.

On the left side you see the raw footage that came out of the LiveLink recording. On the right is the cleaned up version with some subtle body movement (all done in Unreal Engines Sequencer).
